Raleigh Bermuda

"Using overseas expeditions, we challenge young Bermudians to harness their full potential and develop skills for life."

Raleigh International Bermuda is a youth development organisation (reg charity #710) that is passionate about helping young Bermudians between the ages of 17-25 to realise their full potential and to effectively manage the 'day to day' risks they face - drugs, alcohol, crime, anti-social behaviour, bullying, loss of motivation/inspiration/, negative peers, low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence – the list goes on and on.

We aim to facilitate, empower and support young people to take charge of their lives, contribute positively to society and successfully manage independence and the transition to adulthood. At the same time, we encourage them to behave with tolerance, compassion and understanding and give support to others who are less fortunate or simply different to themselves.

Background

Founded in 2004 by Michael Spurling, Raleigh International Bermuda is a branch of Raleigh International (UK). The programme structure and philosophy of the Bermuda organisation are thus, associated with that of our parent group, and are designed to help young people develop skills and self-confidence in a fun and challenging environment beyond the classroom and workplace. We believe that taking a young person "outside their comfort zone", allows them to explore a different side of themselves and accomplish more than they ever thought possible.
